In a world where opioids & other highly addictive pain-reducing drugs have been pushed on the population for decades, the recent legal changes around hemp & cannabis across the world is finally allowing for a light of hope to shine through. Already used for millennia by peoples all across the world, and with established medical cannabis programs going back 20 years, it seems like the age of widely available, well-researched, and thousands of varieties of purpose-grown cannabis is almost here.
The new paper, published in the September issue of Cureus, was a review of placebo studies from 2000 to 2024, and found that not only was cannabis consistently reported as relieving pain more than two times more effectively than the placebo (33% vs 15%), but it also was reported to have “minimal to no side effects.”
This study was done by a team at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Medical College in Mauritius.
